Garden Centre Season is Open!

A gardening research & planning trip to Dobbies at the weekend was even more ‘successful’ than anticipated, oops!

The birds did well – 3 new feeders, one for peanuts, one for fat balls and one for seed plus enough feed to last the rest of the year. Trying out some Nyger seeds as well for the first time – will be interested to see if it does encourage some birds that we haven’t seen here yet like siskins and goldfinches. GardenTags – a great Gardening App (review)

I have a few gardening apps that I use intermittently, mainly to identify plants but I’ve now found one that is becoming quite addictive – GardenTags

It’s the first one I’ve come across that is really useful, multi-purpose and community-based – I’ve met some super-friendly and helpful people within just 24 hours of joining.

  • Keep a photographic record of your plant collection and garden in one place
  • Tag your plants and take care of them using the community generated plant encyclopedia and plant care task list

Snow over it!

There are signs of Spring everywhere now but we’re still getting snow and sub-zero temperatures – really quite desperate to start getting those fingers grubby again – there’s certainly an awful lot to do in the garden, it’s a fright!

We’ve been lucky enough to receive some wonderful new garden goodies this week – the lovely people at Festive Lights sent us a solar lantern and some solar lights to try out and the equally lovely people at The Orchard (I LOVE their stuff) sent us a beautiful Kew Gardens Plant Pot to ‘dress’.  Continue reading Snow over it!

Gardening Scotland 2016 – Tickets are now on Sale!

We had the best day at Gardening Scotland last year – you can read my blog post here, so have been keeping my eye out for this year’s tickets – which are now, at last, on Sale.

The show is Friday 3rd – Sunday 5th June and I’ll have (hopefully) just completed the West Highland Way (in 5 days) that week – fingers crossed I’ll be back on my feet again by the weekend!

Well this is certainly something to be looking out for, celebrity gardener, Charlie Dimmock is launching a range of exclusive gardening products at Poundland on the 29th February, and yes, these items will all be retailing at £1.

The range of both practical and decorative items consists of over 130 lines and expected best sellers include:  4 assorted hand tools, hanging bird feeder, heavy duty gloves, pressure sprayer, cast iron key hook, a wooden sign and a mosaic post solar light.
