5 weeks after building our chicken coop the weather was finally warm and dry enough for us to paint it with preservative. As you can see, Cosmo wasn’t going to let a bit of painting get in the way of a cuddle. Not quite sure when we’ll get chance to get the hens though as we’re busy the next couple of weekends.
After what seems like a very long Winter we seem to have skipped straight on to full Summer, from snow at the start of the week to shorts and Piz Puin by the weekend, hurrah! I’ve been itching to get back in the garden and the Easter weekend came up trumps.
The buddleias that took sickly after planting them out too early are now back outside with lots of new leaves sprouting. I gave the herb garden, hanging baskets and potted plants a good pruning (there are some I’ll be highly surprised to see recover but ‘hope springs’ and all that…)
What a gorgeous warm week, right up until the weekend that is! Many post-work sunny evenings were spent in the garden, ‘testing’ out the new sun lounger! (I’m pleased to say it passes muster).
A warm, if somewhat cloudy day sees in the weekend. We’re off in to town later to enjoy a bbq in someone else’s garden but this morning we made time to do a few more things in our own.
I suddenly realised that the peas should probably be staked, especially as they’re all in a tangle and starting to blossom so cut down some bamboo canes and sorted that – a 2 minute job and they look so much better already. Continue reading We Have a Rockery – Sat 14th June
